New Design

Well.. I finally got around to changing the design of the site. Thank you John for allowing me to steal what you had up and use it in the interim. It's now something that fits us, since we have decided to do the nursery in, yes you guessed it, Elmo.

The ability to add comments will be coming soon!! Please be patient.

Ultrasound Picture!!

Here is the ultrasound picture. I can actually make out the head, the stubs that will become feet and the butt...

Ultrasound

Okay, so I was way off on my calculations--my due date has been revised to July 2, 2004. The heart beat was perfect at 167 and they only heard one (thank goodness). The baby measured in at about 1 inch which is amazing to me that all of this is going on with a person that is so small.

Daddy was excited because he could actually make out the baby's features on the pictures we brought home, so I'm sure that he will be showing them off as soon as he can.

Daddy's additions: I heard the only two words today what I truely cared about hearing. With all my hype about how I want this to be a girl and how exciting twins would be and all the other typical emotions and thoughts that run through every expectant fathers head, the only thing I truely cared about hearing was that everything was perfect. Well, I got to hear those words today and I set my mind at ease. Not that I'm relaxed now, because I am soooo excited. And yes, I actually can make out some of the features on the ultrasound picture. I will have to work on getting that scanned and posted so you can all see it. I even got to see the flutter of a heartbeat. It's just absolutely amazing that something so small can be working so hard, so early in life. This so far has been the best day of my life!

Trip to the York Fair?

Last night we decided to tell our friends that we are expecting. We had it all planned out for John and Claire since they told us at the York Fair a year ago that they were expecting. We just asked them if they wanted to go to the York Fair last night... The look on Claire's face was priceless once she figured out what we were saying... :)

We are now linked off of Stacey's website under "Fern Maple v2.0", the name she gave to our child last night. V2.0 since she wanted to name Paige (John and Claire) that also.
We wanted to tell everyone in person last night, but Todd and Megan weren't having everyone over for dinner since she has to leave early this morning for home and Stacey didn't come either (packing) so we had to tell a few people over the phone. Oh-well.. wanted them to hear it instead of reading it :)

Dad's First Experience

Ok.. I must admit... I want to be involved. :) I went with Karen this morning to her first Pre-natal Dr checkup. I was all fine and good until the midwife decided to show me what she was looking at. For those of you that know me well, you know i'm VERY squemish when it comes to blood. Well, there was a little bit and I turned green :(

I was also a bit disappointed. I went with the impression that I would get to bring home my first picture of our child (or children :)) but no dice. We go back on Friday morning for an ultrasound and hopefully then I will have something to show off.

The midwife seems to think that Karen is only 9 weeks along, but can't confirm anything until Friday. That's part of the reason for the ultrasound, the other being the possibility of twins. But as of now, we are looking at about June 26th, or approximately 214 days, 6 hours, 28 minutes and 21 seconds from posting.. (I'm a geek)

First Appointment

Well I don't know that we really know much more than we did yesterday....

except that my tentative due date is June 26th--plus or minus 2 weeks according to "Dr. Little". I saw a mid-wife for the first time in 4 or 5 years, but she said that for the informational visits (1st appt., 20 and 30 weeks) I should see a mid-wife so I get all the information and have it explained to me at those appointments. She gave us lots of things to read and think about until my next appointment on 12/24. I have to have some blood tests run (doug will probably be in the lobby for that) and hopefully hear the heartbeat which we didn't get to hear today. I also have an ultra sound scheduled for this Friday to make sure there is only one baby and to get a better idea of a due date.

Bad Evening

Last night wasn't a very good one. We were supposed to go to a Holloween Party but I was not feeling very well--If I'm gonna be sick I would rather it be in my own bathroom. Since I had a rough morning also (I got sick in the shower) I figured that I should stay home. Until then I have been feeling relatively good all things considered.

Discipline

I just got a phone call from Karen telling me she wanted to rethink this whole pregnancy thing. There was a little girl sitting in the hallway at the courthouse screaming her head off for the past couple of hours while her mother (like 15 years old) was in for an appointment... I agree, the prospect of a screaming child doesn't thrill me either, but it all comes down to discipline. This child had to be spoiled or really neglected. Neither of which I *plan* on doing, although grandparents are good for spoiling :)
