I woke up this morning and I realized that I feel really fat and only one of my bras fit....this part sucks!!... People at work are starting to notice too, so I guess I can't try to hide it anymore.
Thanks to staczilla for finding this article to answer our questions about the intestines. Turns out that they are not actually outside, at least not completely, but project into the umbilical cord. Neat!
Well, we finally got to hear the baby's heartbeat today. Karen had her 12 week (or 14 according to our calcs) checkup today and had all of her lab work done. I was not in the room when they drew the blood because of what happened last time :) But then we got to go back and see her CNM. It was a quick visit, just asked if we had any questions and then tried to find the heartbeat. It took her a while to find it, but eventually she did. I was a bit nervous during that time, but everyting turned out well. The little thing was pumping blood out at an astounding rate of 156 bpm!! That still amazes me!
My 2 cents.....Doug beats me to it all the time! I must say that I was slightly nervous when she couldn't find the heartbeat intially. And I was very releaved when the kid decided to cooperate with us. We asked the CNM about the intestines being on the outside of the baby's body and she didn't answer us, so it is still a mystery.
So I was sitting at work yesterday (Wednesday) and I had a strange sensation of butterflies in my belly.
I was assured by other "experienced" moms that what I was feeling was actually the baby moving. It only happened a couple of times but I'm sure that it will be more consistant soon enough. It's all so amazing to me that all of this is going on inside me. Our next doctor appointment is on Christmas Eve...lucky me. Hopefully we will be able to hear the heart beat this time.
Ok.. So I've been slacking off and actually doing real work so I haven't had the time to devote to this like I wanted to. I'm still working on getting a comments section put up on here, but for now, you can post your comments here.
Not much is going on these days--I guess that is good. I am starting to have more energy again. My only real complaint is that my clothes are getting tighter in strange places--guess I have to go shopping.
