rollin', rollin', rollin'

Last night Sarah was laying on our bed with her daddy and she finally rolled over on her own (belly to back). Doug said to make sure that it wasn't because the bed is soft and she wasn't "helped" put her on the floor. I did and she did it again several times throughout the evening. Of course she doesn't perform on command yet but she'll get there. We can't wait to show everyone.....

4 months

Sarah went to the doctor on the 18th. She is finally starting to grow (length wise) she is now 22 1/2 inches and weighs 14 pounds. The doctor that we have been taking her to is out for medical reasons so we had to see a Physician's assistant. She wasn't very nice to me, she yelled at me for giving Sarah cereal so early--she claims that Sarah is too chunky and its a result of the cereal. I see it as being a good thing--she has actually gotten longer (2 1/2 inches) this month when she had been growing about 1/2 an inch at each month. Her weight gain has slowed down, she only gained a pound and 4 ounces instead of the typical 2 pounds 2 ounces.......

Scared and helpless

Sarah has been sick before, but today she spiked a fever of 102.3. I got a call from my wife telling me this, and we decided to call the doctor. The earliest she could be seen was 7:20 this evening. Now, I know chances are that this is just her reaction to the injections she got last night at her 4 month checkup, but it still scares me. It makes it even worse knowing that I am an hour away from her and can't just leave.

She went to the doctor and her tempurature had dropped to around 99. The doctor wasn't concerned, he said it was just her reaction to the shots, just what I thought. I'm just really glad she is fine. I was worried for a while.

It's been a while...

It's been a while since I posted about everything that Sarah has been doing over the past couple of weeks so this will be a long list :) Sarah is now about 1 week shy of 4 months old, and is doing really well. As for Karen and I, we both love being parents. She couldn't be an easier child to raise at this point.

She seems to be very advanced for her age, at least according to everything that I have been reading and hearing. She can pretty much sit on her own with only some help balancing, and she will stand with support. It's to the point now that she doesn't really like sitting, but wants to stand all the time. She should not be doing that this early.

She has also spent the last month talking and babbling about anything and everything. We will sit in bed on the weekends and just "talk" for a couple of hours and she doesn't tire of it. It's amazing. She even has inflection in her voice, it's almost like she is really talking, just not speaking english. She amuses me :)

I know this is all what you would expect to hear from a first time parent, but she never ceases to amaze me.

Yesterday, we went to the National Apple Festival, both her and my first one. She spent the whole day being exhausted, but stubborn, wanting to see everything that was going on. This is the problem with her, she is way too nosy, and will actually forgo sleep just to be in the middle of things. It's so cute, but frustrating when you know that she will be very crabby later because she is exhausted.

Sarah has now started playing "peek" with her burp-rag. She will pull it up over her face, and then reveal her face and smile. It get's even better if someone is playing with her. She gets so excited.

We started her on rice cereal a couple of weeks ago. She started being spoon fed, just to see how she would do with it, but then went to being bottle fed her cereal. She is now eating it nightly from a spoon, and enjoying it.

She has her 4 month checkup next week, and we will have to see how much weight she has gained and if she has grown. I'll of course post the details.
