Christmas 2005

Sarah had a wonderful Christmas this year filled with presents and family. She has already had 5 seperate parties with one more to come. It's nuts trying to get her around to see everyone and also not run too rampant. Next year will be interesting with one more for us on the way and my sister being pregnant.

I know I had a heck of a time putting together a list of gifts to give to Santa this year. Sarah is so smart, that anything age appropriate bores her, and anything intelligence appropriate has small piece or other age issues. The Lego Duplo Thomas and Friends sets ended up under the tree this year. She has played with some of Paige's trains and has shown an interest, so we decided to foster and encourage this. The set she got had a bridge that she loved putting the trains on the top of and pushing them down the ramp. This toy went over big.

This was also a green Christmas without even trying, which made me happy. She got a bunch of wooden toys (blocks, puzzles), as well as soy based crayons and the Legos, which are PVC free.

Sarah also loves her 20 gallon fish tank we set up last week. We went out on Monday morning and bought 10 fish. 5 Zebra Danios and 5 Leopard Danios. All are still alive this morning. Sarah stood at the tank while drinking her milk watching the fish swim. She enjoyed telling me that they were going 'round and 'round.

Early Christmas Present

Last weekend, Mommy, Daddy and Uncle E took me to That Fish Place and bought the supplies for one of my early christmas presents. This year, my big gift is a 20 gallon fish tank for everyone to enjoy. Daddy set it up on Tuesday night while I was out with Mommy. When we all got home, he showed it to me and I was so excited, I ran up to it, sat down in front and clapped. I was looking for fish, but couldn't find any. They must be hiding.
For some reason, the water is yellow right now, and Daddy tells me we can't go pick out any fish to put in there until it is clear. Hopefully that will be fixed so I can look at my new fish soon. I can't wait to go back to the fish store and help Mommy and Daddy pick out the fish I want.

18 month check up

Sarah went to the Doctor last night for her 18 month check up. She was not a happy camper the whole time we were in the "back" at the doctors office. The poor nurse didn't really know what to do, Sarah didn't even want to lay on the exam table to be measured so we did everything as quick as possible. When she measured Sarah she looked very puzzled--she said, "She shrank!" at her 15 month check up she measured 28 inches and this time she was less then 28 inches. Somebody must have measured wrong.... Dr. Murphy came in and did her exam and then addressed the length thing. He remeasured her and noticed that he Right leg is longer than her left one and that the measurements must have been done on opposite legs. He remeasured her....

she measured in at a little over 29 inches which put her in the 25th % and weighed in at 19 pounds and 12 ounces--she is my little peanut. She is in the 25th % for weight too. Dr. Murphy wants to send her to see an orthopedic specialist to have her legs looked at, he doesn't think that there is much that needs to be done about it at this point but better to be safe then sorry. I should be hearing from Dr. Avellone (the doc that did my knee surgery and stuff) about what do to from here... As far as we can tell she is doing wonderfully and if we have an option we are going to leave her just the way she is until she is uncomfortable.

Silly Girl

It has been a long time since I (mommy) have posted and lately Sarah has been doing some very silly things. I went to get her up for "school" on Tuesday morning and she decided to "tinkle" several times while she was getting dressed for the day. I ended up just giving her a bath from the waist down after about 3 incidents on her changing table. The craziness didn't stop there.

On Tuesday night we went to grandma and grandpa Bishop's for dinner and to help them decorate their Christmas tree. We had speghetti for dinner which went everywhere because Sarah has to feed herself and she loves pasta. So, she got another bath-this time a real one. After her bath we went out to start putting decorations on the tree. I was impressed how well she has done this year with putting the decorations on the tree and leaving them there. She was very proud of herself and even stepped back and clapped and said "good job". Grandpa B collects Santas and Sarah found one that she was allowed to carry around with her (it was made of "clay") and she looked and me and did a Peeuuu thing while waving her hand in front of her nose. Then she grapped her diaper bad and tried to get it open. I asked what she wanted and then figured out that she wanted a diaper-she said "Santa stinky" and when she got the diaper she attempted to put it on Santa several times. Then she had to show grandma what she was doing and sat on the kitchen floor and "diapered and undiapered" Santa a few more times. I can't believe how BIG she's getting and she just keeps impressing me with her skills.
