I can do it, I'm 3 now!

It's hard to believe that Sarah is now 3, but it has happened. Over the weekend, she celebrated her third birthday with a party, cake, presents, friends and family. Shrek was the theme, on her own choosing, after finding out that Monster's Inc was no longer available. Presents included clothing, books, Dora and Shrek toys, and a high chair for her dolls. Some photos are up in the gallery at http://gallery.shoutstudios.com/3rdBirthday.

Happy (sick) Birthday to you!

Today is Sarah's second birthday, and she started it out with a bang. She woke up at 4:00 this morning throwing up. I'm not sure what it was, but she is still sick as I am writing this. She has been at school all week, so it's possible she picked something up there. Last night she was running around outside and seemed fine. I just hope this doesn't end up cancelling her party planned for tomorrow. We'll have to wait and see how she feels in the morning. Hopefully it's just a quick bug.

On a lighter note, she has been doing really well lately. Her vocabulary grows every day, and she loves repeating everything I say and do. She has started to put her own socks and shorts on, although she usually gets two feet in one whole in her shorts. The good thing is that she wants to try/do everything for herself. She is very independent.

It should be interesting to see what the next year will bring.

Happy 1st Birthday!

Yesterday, Sarah turned 1. It's been a wonderful, surprise filled year that I would not trade for anything. She had a blast yesterday. We let her stay home from school and spend the entire day with me. We went shopping at Toys R Us, and bought a mini basketball as well as a Little Tikes Slide and Swing Castle. She has not been on the swing or slide yet as I just finished putting them together, but loves the basketball. I have no doubt she will enjoy the slide and swing as she has enjoyed them in the past at friends houses and the park.

Last night, we had family over for a little birthday celebration complete with dinner, cake and presents. We stripped her down to her diaper and sat her in a high chair in the middle of the kitchen and just let he go to town with the cupcake. She made some of the cutest faces and enjoyed the treat. We also gave her a bit of organic whole milk last night since the doctor told us we can start her on milk now. She did well with it. She wouldn't take it to go down to sleep, but when she was eating her cake, she had some real milk.

Tomorrow, we are having a much larger bash for her birthday with all of ours and her friends invited, as well as the extended families and neighbors. That should prove to be just as entertaining as last night.

I have also taken some time to update the gallery with pictures from months 11, 12, and her Birthday celebration.

Poor Baby

Well we went to the doctor on Monday night. She is growing but not too fast. She weighed in 15 pounds and 14 ounces, she was 23 inches long. Unfortunatley she also had to get some shots-3 to be exact. So she went to school on Tuesday after having a rough night......

Welcome Sarah Margaret!!!

Wow!!! What an amazing experience! I never could have imagined that things would have turned out the way they did, and how I would feel about the happenings of the past several days! I would not trade any of it for the world, nor would I change anything.

5 hours after our last Bradley class, Karen awoke in a puddle at 3:15 AM. Her water had broken, and the process of birthing our child had begun. I woke up, and stayed up with her at that point. Her contractions started about 30 minutes later, while she was cleaning off. We had a regularly scheduled appointment scheduled for 8:00 Tues morning, which we decided to keep and just wait until then to see where things were. We took advantage of the relatively easy contractions and the time to finish packing the things we would need for the hospital, played some cards, and just hung out. Her contractions were consistently around 5 minutes apart, lasting about 45 seconds on average, the signs of early first stage labor.

Let the countdown begin!

It's official. According to timeanddate.com, there are now only 99 days left until the expected date of our childs delivery date! Yay! It's getting really close and I'm starting to get excited!

I've had a countdown on my whiteboard at work for the past 4 months or so, and I've kept it up to date every day. It's become part of my morning routine along with reading my online comics and calendar comics. Hope I have a whiteboard at my new job.

I finally found it!!!

I went shopping with Megan at the Flower and Craft Warehouse yesterday and I found the fabric I have been looking for. I don't know that I would have thought to look there but I'm glad we did. As Doug posted we went to Baby Depot also yesterday and we registered for some things, we changed our minds on the pattern for the "big accessories". We have decided to go with Union as the pattern by Graco because it's cute and gender neutral. I must say that I am getting more and more excited.....

Registry

Karen and I went out to baby depot today to start our registry for our baby. We have found a crib and changing table/dresser that we like there, but it's not on our registry. We did, however, register for our stroller, high chair, pack and play, and random other items. If you would like to view it, take a look at their website and search for registry id: 04769716.

Alien Belly

We were sitting at dinner tonite at my parents and Karen called me over to feel something pushing out of her belly. Not sure if it was an elbow, a knee, or something else, but I could definately feel something hard pushing back at me when I prodded it. I think that's the first time I've been able to really feel something going on inside of her. It was really exciting. I can't wait for more things to happen that she can really share with me.

Fetal Movements for Daddy

Yay!!! I was able to feel my first very distinct fetal movement last night! Karen had me feeling her stomach in the past couple of weeks, and I was able to feel something, which felt just like her digestive tract moving or something similar, but last night, she put my had on her stomach and not even a minute later I felt a very distinct fetal movement. She said it felt like the baby was rolling over. I'll believe her on that one, but I felt what seemed to be an appendage push out and then disappear.

New Clothes

Now I get to go shopping!!!! I have more maternity clothes then I do regular clothes. Thanks to Claire I had a start on clothes for work but I had to widen the selection a little bit at least. I think I'm set for a few months anyway. The woman behind the counter asked if I was 6 months or further and she was very shocked when I told her that I was only 4. I thought I was big but it's getting crazy now.

Butterflies

So I was sitting at work yesterday (Wednesday) and I had a strange sensation of butterflies in my belly.

I was assured by other "experienced" moms that what I was feeling was actually the baby moving. It only happened a couple of times but I'm sure that it will be more consistant soon enough. It's all so amazing to me that all of this is going on inside me. Our next doctor appointment is on Christmas Eve...lucky me. Hopefully we will be able to hear the heart beat this time.

Welcome!

So.. By now you have figured out that we are going to be parents. It's been some time coming and now there is an end in sight. We are both so excited and happy to be going through this now.

Although I'm sure Karen's feelings on that will change from time to time, as she experiences new and wonderful things. Much like John and Claire did (Thanks guys... Sorry to steal the idea, but I must keep a good thing going... we will be updating this website and things happen. Keep you eye on the image at the top of the page, it will change as the weeks go by. Supposedly that is what the baby looks like inside Karen. Scary isn't it? Check back often and drop us a line every now and again to see how things are going. Thank you for sharing in our joy.
